Does Anyone Know Of A Tough Edible Dog Toy?
My seven months old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel chews just about anything! Yesterday he chewed an extension cord, but thank God he didn’t bite through the copper wire. He has also tore a tire bone,a phone charger (wasn’t in wall),and earphones. He’s started to try going under the computer desk. He chewed a huge hole through his blanket and his bed. We are extremely worried about him. Does anyone know of a dog toy that’s tough and safe if he tears a piece off and swallows it?

Stay away from rawhide, it can be pulled off in strips and cause a blockage!
One of the best things is a raw, meaty bone. I just buy soup bones from the grocery store. He’ll be able to gnaw on it for hours. My dogs chew the meat off then lick the marrow out and leave the bones lying around the house. Whenever they’re in the mood they’ll pick up a bone and start chewing on it again.
Your dog is at the teething stage where he will chew on *everything* — You need to keep anything you don’t want chewed up out of his reach. Some dogs are worse than others about this.
Nylabones are relatively safe. Bully sticks, etc. But they should be used with supervision, there’s always the possibility of choking.
To protect your cords, get some of those coiled wire shields that he can’t bite through.
One of the most durable dog toy brands is Kong. They make all sorts of different things that would be hard for your little guy to chew through. One of the best, is the one you can put a treat or peanut butter inside of. This keeps him interested in the toy–and not your cords–for a really long time. You can find Kong products at most pet stores and some grocery stores.
Kongs are the best!! I recommend the Kong Extreme dog toy for Strong Chewers like you Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. You can get these at Petco or Petsmart.
Here are some you can pick though at Petsmart—http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js…http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js…
*Good Luck and i hope this Helps!!
Nyla Bones. My Pit cannot chew through one. Also if you know of a wild game hunter, deer, buffalo, antelope, moose antlers are the most awesome chews for dogs. They are natural and impossible to destroy.
Another thing you may want to try is some serious exercise and obedience training. I have had dozens of puppies (have one now) and that kind of chewing is not acceptable. I don’t allow it.
Try a Kong they are sold at pet supply stores. They are great because they are extremely durable plus you can shove your puppies favorite treat inside and it will keep them entertained for hours.http://www.petmountain.com/brands/22/1/k…
You do not want to give your puppy a bone or rawhide until they are full grown (12-18 months). It is not good for their teeth and most puppies have a really hard time digesting them.
I buy for my dogs Nylabones. They are great for strong chewers. I also purchase soup bones from the local butcher and give them outside. Make sure the bones are not precooked.
Nylabones are great. Keeps the dog busy for hours. I hope that you put him in a crate or safe area when you’re not home so he doesn’t chew anything that can seriously hurt him.
There really isn’t anything wrong with old fashioned rawhide, don’t listen to the silly myths about how they’re not good, it’s bunk.
get a large strong bone
Try giving him a Kong. They aren’t edible, but they are just about indestructable. They’re made out of hard rubber and you fill them with treats. They are a great mental simmulation toy for your dog and will provide hours of activity for him.
