I have a dog that is 6 months old and it seems like he is not interested in any of the store dog toys and i was wondering if there is a way to make a dog toy from things around the house that he might like?

Our dog loves any type of ball (tennis ball, soccer ball….) and also likes empty 2 liter pop bottles. Just make sure you take the cap and ring off them first and watch that he doesn’t chew off any small pieces. You can also give him empty toilet rolls to chew and rip apart. We use old socks with knots in them too but I wouldn’t fully recommend this as he will think its ok to chew the rest of your clothing too. Good luck.
Use your sewing machine to make inexpensive, homemade dog toys.
This can be as simple as taking scrap, heavy duty fabric such as canvas material and cutting it into squares. With the wrong side of the fabric facing outwards, sew around the edges of three sides of the square. Turn the fabric inside out so the right side of the fabric faces outwards again. Now stuff the fabric pocket you’ve created with soft stuffing material and sew the open edge closed. Give it to your dog to enjoy
If you think he is bored and you want him to be more active, try putting his food into a small plastic bottle. Find a bottle that has a wider mouth so it is easier for the food to fall out. You might have to show him how to hit the bottle with his paw for the food to come out, or push it with his nose.
This may sound cruel, but the dogs love it after they realize what the reward is. Also a good trick when your dog eats his dry food too quickly.
Put a tennis ball in a calf high sock & tie a knot at the opening. I haven’t seen a dog that doesn’t like this one. The towel with a know in it is another good home made toy. My GSD when she was a pup like to play with a plastic bucket. She would stick her head in it & toss it all around the yard. Empty milk bottles is a good chew toy. All dogs need a little blanket.
Right now my dogs love to play tug of war with an empty food sack. It looks terrible out in my yard cause I make make shift toys. Some times a limb off a tree will keep them busy for quite a while chewing on it.http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oG…
If you are looking for a way to build toy drive (I had this same issue with my dog, and this article worked wonders) I would recommend reading this article:http://www.clickerdogs.com/createamotiva…
Depends on the dog. Most like rope or something they can bite and pull.
Old sheets, shirts, sock or whatever can work.
Sometimes you just need to get down to the dogs level and interact with it.
A lot of dogs go nuts for empty water bottles. My Mini Aussie does! We call them “trailer trash dog toys”. LOL My dogs can’t resist a tennis ball tied in the middle of a sock either.
Take an empty gatorade bottle, remove the label and put some treats in it. Put the cap back on.
Tie a small towel in a knot and hide a treat in the center.
my dogs like knotted tube socks.
