i have two dogs and two kong toys, i fill them both with dog food/meat and want other ideas on how to give it to them i.e. hanging it on a doornob to make it harder for them to get the food out. at the moment i just give it to them but it only takes them about 10 mins to get the food out. if u have any ideas plze tell.

We bought a Kong for our dog a few years ago, then that dog died and the Kong wasn’t used for a while. Now, it seems to have melted or something. Around the edges, it is soft and sticky. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it still safe for a puppy to chew on?

I just bought a “Classic Kong” dog toy and read that some people fill it with peanut butter and freeze it as a long-lasting treat for their dogs. Is this a good idea for a carpeted house?
This may have an obvious answer of NO, but I would think that if the peanut butter is frozen, and the dog is constantly playing with the toy, then the chance for it getting on carpet is minimal.
Any advice/experience, or suggestions on what I can freeze in a Kong toy that’s good to a dog and my carpet?

I want to buy my friends dog a great toy. Apparently he loves chewing balls but destroys them instantly. Reviews for the Extreme Kong toy looks great but apparently it has a horrible, strong smell?

Well – Maybe. If your dog is a puppy and the behavior is acutally play biting and nipping, a stuffed Kong toy is a great chew toy to use to redirect the biting chewing behavior to the toy instead of you. Kongs are great for dogs. They can be stuffed in many different ways and make pretty fun fetch toys when empty (they bounce crazy).
Is your dog is trying to play with you and gets carried away with the biting, growling, etc? Training can definitely help. If your dog learns to Sit or Down on cue, you can use that to give them some “settle” time to calm down when the play times get too rough.
Can you give us more information on the biting and aggressive behavior you are seeing?

I use peanut butter or spray cheese, or both– then make a layer of broken dog biscuits (I have the XL size kongs) then I add another layer of spray cheese or peanut butter.
